Just in case you haven’t read these facts yet:
1. In the years 96 and 97 alone, more Americans died from gunshot wounds than were killed during the entire Vietnam war.
2. In the US, 20,000 guns enter the stream of commerce everyday.
3. Almost a thousand Californians are shot every week.
4. Seventy children die every week at the hand of a parent—most under five years old.
5. Women visit ER’s for injuries caused by their husbands or boyfriends more often than for injuries from accidents, robberies and rapes.
6. The USA has about 3000 people slated for execution yet the most frequent cause of death listed for those inmates is ‘natural causes.’
7. Eighty percent of all homicides are committed by people we know, not strangers.
